Sonia Ziegler’s Photography Is An Emotional Journey

Copenhagen people, be sure to catch Sonia Ziegler’s latest photography exhibition, “Reflections”, a collection of stories from women over the age of 65.

Lovely Copenhagen people, be sure to join our Girls Are Awesome crew for the vernissage of Reflections, a photo exhibition by wildly talented Danish photographer Sonia Ziegler. Sonia spent the Fall of 2018 traveling through Eastern Europe and the Baltics to convey the stories of women over 65 years old, through her emotional and inquisitive lens. Throughout the journey, Sonia was curious to meet women whose lives would seem worlds apart from her own, to unearth the inherent similarities and differences to her own experience by asking a range of questions about their lives when they where Sonia’s age.

A bit about Sonia: she is a native Dane, born and raised in Vesterbro, Copenhagen. Her fascination for “the planet and its inhabitants” has driven her to travel the globe to meet and photograph people from all walks of life. She avoids hotels, as she loves meeting real people and gaining insights into the intimate experience of their lives by staying in their homes. This curiosity for humanity is mirrored in her work, ranging from rich portraiture to high-action skateboard imagery. Furthermore, Sonia’s excellent work earned her a position as a global ambassador for Fujifilm.

The opening of Reflections coincides with the relocation of Girls Are Awesome to the lovely space on the corner of Ny Carlsberg Vej and Vesterfælledvej in Carlsberg Byen over the summer, for three months of exhibitions, talks, yoga, pop up shops, markets and get togethers.
