Anyone else having a long week? Chins up, people! We found a bright spot, and it’s brought to you courtesy of one of our favorite graphic illustrators: Somya Bisht, also known by her Instagram handle @So_Much_Oh. Somya describes her illustrations, where she’s free to put her ideas, dreams and love of fashion to page, as a “sweet escape” – and there are only echoes to that from the Girls Are Awesome office!
“I don’t have a strict philosophy behind my art, but I do believe that there is an artist inside each and every one,” Somya says. “My inspiration comes from my busy thoughts, which can be sensed in my illustrations as well. One quote that I try to live by is:
If one is lucky, a solitary fantasy can totally transform one million realities. -Maya Angelou-
The moment that I come across sometihing that triggers my creative soul, my mind goes into this process of visualising the idea of how I would decorate and express it in my illustrations. I enter that fantasy land of myself creating something. I’m highly affected by my emotions, experiences, and anything and everything happening in the world, and I put all of that into my work. I believe art is an expression of one’s ideas, moulded by their experiences and the hustle of their lives.”
Enjoy this little taste of Somya’s illustrations, and hop over to her Instagram for more from her fantasy world, where her bio line boasts the phrase “Aesthetics of Excess!”. All we can say is More! More colors, more fantasy, and yea – more excess!
