One of our absolute favorite graphic illustrators on Instagram is Penny – or, as she’s perhaps better known, @pennika_, which is her handle. The Greek artist from Athens who’s been living in Milan, Italy for the last three years has a way of capturing everyday experiences like we rarely see, from the comedy to the tragedy and everything in between.
It’s a bright spot in our newsfeed, and we know we’re not the only ones, so we reached out to ask her for a few lines about her work, thoughts and process as she puts her pieces together. You can read those below as you enjoy some of her art – which, if you love it as much as we know you will, you can grab for yourself at her shop here.

Since I can remember, I loved to draw, paint and illustrate.
A girl drinking her coffee, a girl doing yoga or a girl in a wheelchair – Ordinary girls, like me and you!
I wanted to be an extra voice for every woman with my art.
I don’t draw faces or details because I feel that we are all the same; the details are inside of us.
Every day is an opportunity to share a message to everyone – the message of respect and self-love. Women are powerful, are so strong… and their voice is louder than they think.
I want to think that women can find themselves in my illustrations, taking strength or feeling better.
