The Swedish pop newcomer SVEA has just released her EP ‘Pity Party’ and now she’s following up with her video for the explosive title track. Watch it exclusively here!
Since the release of her empowering debut single “Don’t Mind Me” in 2018, Swedish artist SVEA has been buzzin’ with her ever-so-catchy pop and relatable lyricism.
On November 6th, she unleashed her second EP Pity Party and today the upbeat title track “Pity Party” is accompanied by a hazy video following SVEA at a party in an empty, underground club. We’re instantly set back to the carefree days of 2019 when the only thing the word “corona” could be linked to was the beer.
SVEA has written all six tracks of the EP herself and it serves as a more vulnerable outlet of the emerging singer and songwriter. Not afraid of touching upon themes that often cause us to come up short on words, the EP deals with everything from the emotions caused by a break-up and battling insecurities, to embracing self-love and finally feeling sufficient. Of the EP, SVEA says:
“Pity Party EP is just really what the title says. I’ve written tons of songs about self-dependence, about moving on and enjoying the company of myself. But Pity Party is the other side of the story, where I’ve just been totally honest. I let the listener join my journey when I’ve been sick, reckless, indecisive and destructive. We’re all humans and host our own pity parties sometimes, don’t we? This is mine.”
SVEA, who hails from Stockholm with Greek roots, finds inspiration in genres such as R&B and soul and with her infectious modern pop she’s one to keep an eye on if you’re fan of fellow swedes like Tove Lo and Zara Larsson.
We feel confident saying that this is still only the beginning for the bright talent.
