Your new favorite song or lifelong musical crush is always right around the corner, and it’s our job to keep bringing you amazing new tunes and artists with that very goal in mind. That’s why we got in touch with the one and only feeo

Not that there’s anything wrong about love songs, the tracks on feeo’s debut EP feels like we’re getting older doesn’t it just simply aren’t any of them.

Through an experimental and electronic take on neo-soul, the Oxford-artist reflects on our individual as well as collective realisation of mortality on four unique cuts. feeo’s heavenly voice, haunting vocal harmonies and jazzy chord progressions float above the deep bass and ocean of thoughts that the lyrics so naturally provoke.

We’ve fallen in love with her style and wanna give you the possibility to do so too which is why we’ve reached out to feeo with our 16 quick Q’s. Listen to the full EP below.

Hi, I’m feeo and I’ve been making music since… I was 9 or 10. I’d always been into singing and making bits up on the piano but I think I started my first songbook when I was about 9. Then when I was 12 I started getting into Garageband and just made these weird tunes with all the really bad flute plugins and then the ball really began to roll.

I started making music because… I had just moved from North West London (where I grew up) to Oxfordshire and it was pretty weird and lonely. I think that’s when I really started to lean on music as both an escape tactic and a means of processing how I felt at the time.

If I were to describe my music, I’d say it sounds kind of like… The inside of my head! Kind of cohesive, kind of chaotic. Though I definitely think there is room for more of the brain chaos to be translated into the music. Stories are very important to me so whether with words or sonics I try to embody some kind of world when I make something. I like things to feel totally immersive in that sense.

I feel the most inspired when… I’m obsessing and overthinking about someone or something. All the thoughts start stacking up and I need to put them somewhere. Surplus coffee and atmospheric lighting also helps with the inspiration.

I’m really proud of… Equiknoxx. I’m just so gassed about their music and what it means for Jamaica. I’m used to feeling quite out of touch with my Jamaican heritage and culture – often unconsciously associating it with the trauma that I can see on that side of my family. But when I first heard “Jump” by Equiknoxx this pride came over me to see that things are happening in Kingston, and growing and the music is getting weird.

The first time I heard… “Supreme” by Mop Mop ft. Wayne Snow, I felt like I was falling in love with an actual person and not just an idea (a rare occurrence lmao).

I’ll never forget when… I met Goldie while I was on acid and he looked like an extremely wealthy crocodile.

When I hear the word… “future” it makes me… curious. It’s such a bag of surprises! Infinite possibility, infinite realities!

I feel the most empowered when… I’m  on the dance floor cutting shapes.

When people listen to my music, I hope they… listen to the stories.

It’s important to empower women because… Where would we all be without women?

My biggest role models are… My good friends Lauren Van Weyenbergh and Kate French. They are glamorous, they are wholesome, they are absurd. Always the best vibes, they approach everything with optimism and I think that’s pretty rare these days. They definitely helped carve my journey into early adulthood. They also run a sustainable couture brand called L’Origine du Monde which everyone should check out.

Looking back at this time of my life 10 years from now, I’ll remember it being… Golden. My twenties thus far have felt like some kind of feral replay of my childhood. It’s a lot more dark in places maybe but it’s definitely a romantic time, and I’m sure the nostalgia goggles will heighten that romance. I look forward to looking back.

If I met my 14-year-old self I’d tell her… Morrissey is a turd – stop basing your identity around him. Don’t stress, love will come your way. Invest in bitcoin quick time.

I want you to know that… It’s a simulation.

My latest release is… my EP feels like we’re getting older doesn’t it and it’s a ride! Give it a go.
