Hi, I’m Farida and I’ve been making music since… I was 12 years old. I actually wrote a lot of very bad songs in my diary but I always loved to write so I started thinking: Shit, I’m just gonna keep writing my thoughts so they don’t stay in there for the rest of my life! And eventually, the writing and singing came together I guess.

I started making music because… I grew up in a musical household and I always felt this extreme happiness when I listened to music, but I think it was natural. I cant really pinpoint the exact reason why, it was more like: This seems to be it, yep, lets go!!

If I were to describe my music, I’d say it sounds kind of like… early 2000’s alternative rock with some modern R&B melodies.

I feel the most inspired when… I don’t put pressure on myself, and mostly when Ive taken a few days off doing nothing but eating and watching series or films. It’s easy to get tired of writing when its your full time job and I feel its important to not be obsessed all the time. I’ll go crazy and that doesn’t help anything, so I’ve found a good routine to let the creativity flow naturally.

I’m really proud of… being happy and content with who I am. It’s not easy in todays society where everyone has an opinion and we have so many options all the time. It took some time and I think I’m finally like: Well, this is who you are, deal with it, and love yourself, period.

The first time I heard “Under the Bridge” by Red Hot Chili Peppers, I felt… like it was the prettiest poem I had ever heard with melodies to it. Love that song so much.

I’ll never forget when… I opened up for Dua Lipa in a concert or when I played SXSW in Texas. DREAM. And those food carts.. wow.

When I hear the word dog it makes me… smile. love.animals.

I feel the most empowered when… I do something out of my comfort zone and go through with it. Best feeling in the world. Also after I work out, I feel like I’m taking care of myself and my mental health which is so important for us all and probably the main reason it’s important for me to work out. Keeps my head in check!

My latest release is… called “365 Days” and it’s… produced and written with my boyfriend (artist name) UNDR. I love it. Its about having a summer fling who loves to drink everyday, but you’re tired of waking up past noon and letting the summer kissed skin and beach days slip away so you say bye bye.

When people listen to my music, I hope they... get nostalgic and let their brain just cancel out for those few minutes. Its mostly what I base my music on. Emotion that we’ve felt some time in our life or maybe are experiencing at this second OR maybe will experience in the future. We are all so alike and I love listening to other artists explaining the same situations in so many different ways, so AWESOME. Love love love.

It’s important to empower women because… it just IS. We all hopefully know why by now.

My biggest role models are… family and boyfriend. They always encourage me, and they always show me what truly matters in the end. Love and support from people you care about.

Looking back at this time of my life 10 years from now, I’ll remember it being… eventful, exciting, interesting, terrifying, exhausting but hella worth it, hehe.

If I met my 14-year-old self I’d tell her… to take a deep breath and trust yourself. Everything will work out just fine. Your clock doesn’t have to tick at the same pace as everyone else. We all have dreams and ambitions but our paths are different. Some are shorter than others, some are harder than others and thats just how it is. Your time will come! <3

I want you to know that… I really love making music and I hope I get to show the world just how much in the years to come. I also want to thank Girls Are Awesome for having me. You rock <3 Thank you so much for the support.

Since you’re here, we assume you like music. So do we! And that is why we’ve created a playlist that is updated every Friday with the best new music we’ve come around during the week. Find it on Spotify here and check out our other music related content here to never miss a beat.
